Volumes

A disk that survives process restarts.

Create one from Volumes → New. Choose a name, a kind, a region, and a size in GB. The form shows the allowed range and how much free disk that region has.

Network or local

Network volumes live on a volume host and are mounted over NFS. Several processes can share one. The application can move to another app host and keep the data.

Local volumes are a real disk on the same machine as the app. One process can mount up to four local volumes, and each local volume belongs to one process. That process cannot have more than one replica. Deploys stop the current instance before starting the new one. If that app host is lost, the data is gone.

Mount it

Open the application Processes tab, edit a process, and add a volume mount: the volume, a container path, and optional read-only. The process and the volume must be in the same project. Put them in the same region. A process can mix local and network volumes. A local volume path cannot be the same as another mount path of the process, or sit inside or around one.

Grow, do not shrink

On the volume page you can grow the size. It cannot get smaller. The new size is billed from the moment you grow it. Usage shows after the next check.
